  2. 1930
    • According to 2 sources
Snickers was introduced by Mars in 1930 and named after the Mars family 's favorite horse. Initially marketed as " Marathon " in the UK and Ireland, its name was changed to Snickers in 1990 to align with the global brand, differentiating it from an unrelated US product also named Marathon.
Snickers was created in 1930 by a man named Frank Mars, who decided to name his candy bar after his horse. However, in the United Kingdom, they would call Snickers bars a Marathon Bar. Just recently did the name become unified throughout the world. The name of Frank Mars’ family farm in Tennessee, ironically, was named Milky Way.
